Glamaig Hill Race
The Glamaig Hill Race is the David Shepherd Memorial event held on Saturday 11 July 2026 on the Isle of Skye. The course starts from Sligachan Hotel and covers a distance of 4.5 Miles with approximately 2500 feet of ascent. Course records from 2018 are listed for both the men's and women's categories.
Entry is administered through SiEntries and requires competitors to register an account. The published entry fee is £5 and limited entry on the day is noted. The minimum age for competitors is 18 years, with age limits applied relative to the start of the year 2026.
Organisers advise specific clothing requirements because of local weather variability. All competitors must wear or carry windproof body cover. In adverse conditions waterproof full body cover may be required to be worn or carried instead.
The event is organised by a local running club and the hotel runs additional events alongside the race. Proceeds from the events and the race are donated to Skye Mountain Rescue Team.
