Glamaig Hill Race : David Shepherd Memorial
The Glamaig Hill Race is a memorial hill-running event held on 11 July 2026 on the Isle of Skye. The course starts from the Sligachan Hotel and covers 4.5 miles with approximately 2,500 feet of ascent. The event is organised by Skye and Lochalsh Running Club.
Course records listed for 2018 are a men's time of 44:27 and a women's time of 56:09. The minimum age for entry is 18. The published entry fee is £5 and there is limited entry on the day. At the time of publication the event is full; new entries are placed on a waiting list and no payment is required until a place is offered.
Competitors must wear or carry windproof body cover. Given local variable weather, waterproof full body cover should be available; organisers may require it to be worn or carried in adverse conditions.
The Sligachan Hotel hosts a number of events alongside the race. Proceeds from the race and accompanying events are donated to Skye Mountain Rescue Team.
Event-specific terms, cancellation and waiting-list procedures are set by the organisers and applied to entries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
