21st Applecross Duathlon
The Applecross Duathlon is a multisport event taking place on the Applecross peninsula. Participants navigate a course through wild scenery that includes significant elevation changes. The total route features approximately 3300 feet of ascent and descent, crossing from Applecross Bay over the peninsula.
The event structure consists of two main disciplines:
- 9 miles on foot across the peninsula.
- 15 miles by road bike along the coast road.
Participants can choose between two entry categories depending on their goals. The "Race" is aimed at those looking for a competitive experience, while the "Challenge" category allows participants to complete the course as a run or walk. The event is open to a wide range of ages, with previous participants ranging from 10 to 80 years old.
Registration, refreshments, and the prize-giving ceremony are held at Hartfield House, located adjacent to the start and finish areas. Accommodation is available on-site at Hartfield House, which offers various hostel room options. Following the sporting events, a community celebration known as the Duathlon Ceilidh takes place in the local Community Hall. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
