Skye Half Marathon
The Skye Half Marathon takes place on the Isle of Skye on 13 June 2026. The event uses fully closed roads and is organised around a 13.1 mile loop that starts from Portree. Chip timing and electronic timing are provided.
The course begins with a gradual climb from Portree, opens into a downhill section, and then follows scenic single-track and closed roads through Skye countryside, often running beside the River Snizort. Water stations are provided along the route.
Distances and additional races:
- 13.1 mile Half Marathon on closed roads, loop starting from Portree
- 10K chip timed race, starts at the half marathon 11 km mark, 160 entry cap
- Fun Run
- Toddler Dash
Race services include a commemorative finisher medal, event giveaways, downloadable race photos, plentiful water stations and age group prizes. Registration categories include female, male and non binary; prizes are awarded in the non binary category, but overall results do not currently capture non binary entries for overall ranking purposes. Courtesy buses transport 10K runners to their start location.
The event supports several local charities including the Skye and Lochalsh Citizens Advice Bureau, Skye and Lochalsh Mental Health Association, Skye Cancer Care and Skye and Lochalsh Young Carers. Organisers list sustainability measures such as lift sharing and options to contribute to tree planting. The island is accessible via a toll free bridge.
