Skye Half Marathon
The Skye Half Marathon takes place on the Isle of Skye, Scotland, on Saturday 13 June 2026. The event features multiple distances: a Half Marathon of 13.1 miles run on a closed road loop starting from Portree, a chip timed 10K, a fun run and a toddler dash. The half marathon course begins with a gradual climb from Portree, includes a downhill section, and follows single track closed roads through countryside that often runs alongside the River Snizort.
Race services include electronic timing, plentiful water stations, a commemorative finisher medal and free downloadable race photos. There are age group prizes and competitive categories. Registration offers male, female and non binary categories and the organisers provide gender neutral facilities. Prizes are awarded in the non binary category, while overall ranking currently does not include non binary results.
Support for local causes is part of the event. The organisers raise funds for local charities including the Skye and Lochalsh Citizens Advice Bureau, Skye and Lochalsh Mental Health Association, Skye Cancer Care and Skye and Lochalsh Young Carers. The event also lists sustainability measures such as encouraging lift sharing and offering a tree purchase option to offset impact. Travel to Skye is noted as straightforward via a toll free bridge, and registration and bib pick up are organised at Portree High School on the day before and on race day.
