Trotternish Ridge Race
The Trotternish Ridge Race is a mountain running event scheduled for 6 June 2026. The route follows the Trotternish Ridge from Flodigary to Storr Lochs via Meal na Suiramach, Ben Edra and the Storr. The course distance is approximately 27 km with around 2000 m of ascent and descent.
The course is unmarked and competitors navigate between unmanned checkpoints. Marshals will be located at CP 2 and CP 4, where water will also be available. Grid references for checkpoints will be released closer to the event and are subject to NatureScot restrictions. Entries are limited to 75 participants due to those restrictions.
This is a Category A long race. Competitors are expected to have completed similar events or to have equivalent experience within the last three years. Competitors should be competent with map and compass. The event is run under Scottish Hill Runners kit requirements and all runners will be subject to a kit check prior to the start. Organisers may require a survival bag depending on weather.
Registration takes place at Portree High School. Bus transport to the start and from the finish back to Portree is included in the entry fee. There will be a prize giving and light refreshments at the finish at Storr Lochs. The event organiser is Skye and Lochalsh Running Club.
