Trotternish Ridge Race : Flodigary to Storr Lochs
The Trotternish Ridge Race follows the ridge from Flodigary to Storr Lochs via Meal na Suiramach, Ben Edra and the Storr. The course distance is approximately 27 km with about 2000 m of ascent and descent.
The route will be unmarked and competitors must navigate between unmanned checkpoints using map and compass. Grid references for checkpoints will be released closer to the event due to NatureScot restrictions. Marshals and water will be available at checkpoint 2 and checkpoint 4. Entries are limited to 75 participants because of NatureScot restrictions.
This is classified as a Category A long race; competitors are expected to have completed similar events or to hold equivalent experience within the last three years. The race is organised under Scottish Hill Runners kit requirements and all competitors will undergo a kit check before the start. Depending on weather, organisers may require runners to carry a survival bag.
Registration takes place at Portree High School. Transport to the start and from the finish back to Portree is provided and is included in the entry fee. There will be a prize giving and light refreshments at Storr Lochs; a post-race meal will not be provided. The entry fee is £20 and the minimum age is 18.
