Trotternish Ridge Race

The Trotternish Ridge Race is scheduled for 6 June 2026 and follows the ridge from Flodigary to Storr Lochs via Meal na Suiramach, Ben Edra and the Storr. The course covers approximately 27 km with around 2000 m of ascent and descent. Entries are limited to 75 places due to NatureScot restrictions; a waiting list is used when the race is full.

The route is unmarked and competitors navigate between unmanned checkpoints. Runners are expected to be competent with map and compass; grid references for checkpoints will be released closer to the event because of NatureScot restrictions. Marshals and water will be provided at checkpoint 2 and checkpoint 4.

This is a Category A long race and competitors must have completed similar events or have equivalent experience within the last three years. The race is run under Scottish Hill Runners kit requirements and all participants will undergo a kit check before the start. Organisers may require a survival bag depending on weather conditions.

Transport by bus from Portree to the start and from the finish back to Portree is included in the entry fee. There will be a prize giving and light refreshments at the finish at Storr Lochs; a post-race meal will not be provided. Minimum age to enter is 18. The entry fee is £20. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
