Girls on the Run Southcentral Alaska Spring 5K
Girls on the Run Southcentral Alaska holds a season closing 5K to celebrate program completion. The event on May 15, 2027 takes place at Westchester Lagoon in Anchorage, AK. The course length is 5K which equals 3.1 miles.
Program participants and coaches are already registered by the council and every participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal. Each GOTR participant must have a running buddy for the entire route; running buddies provide support and safety and may be designated by the council or by a parent or guardian. Community members, family and friends may also register to join the event.
Registration pricing is tiered: alumnae and children 14 and under are listed at $10; community runners have early bird, regular and day of rates; a community donor option is available; running buddies have a separate fee. All registrations include a liability waiver and race bibs are required for safety.
The event includes pre-5K activities and features such as a DJ, water stations, merchandise sales, happy hair or face painting, and cheer stations. The council monitors the course, conducts head counts, and maintains a safety plan.
