About the race
The Girls on the Run San Diego end-of-season event is a celebratory 5K held at De Anza Cove in San Diego, CA (3000 N. Mission Bay Dr.). The event marks the conclusion of the season and gives program participants a concrete sense of accomplishment by completing a planned 3.1 mile course.
The event is framed as non-competitive and welcoming: participants are encouraged to walk, run, push, roll or skip at their own pace. Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal. The council provides race bibs for safety and encourages each participant to have a Running Buddy who accompanies them for the full course. Designated parking spots are available and the course is accessible for people with disabilities.
Program participants and coaches are pre-registered by the council and do not need additional registration. Family members and community participants may also take part but must register separately. Liability waivers are required as part of registration. The event also includes a Girls on the Run Village, merchandise sales, water stations, bib blinging and other season-end activities.
Volunteers support event operations in roles such as set-up and tear down, registration, course marshals, water stations, cheer stations and Happy Hair. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
