5K Celebration - Confidence through Accomplishment
The Girls on the Run San Diego 5K is an end-of-season celebratory event for program participants. It is scheduled for December 13, 2026, at De Anza Cove, 3000 N. Mission Bay Dr., San Diego, CA 92109. The 5K course is 3.1 miles and is presented as a fun, non-competitive event that supports a range of paces; participants are encouraged to walk, run, push, roll, or skip at their own pace. Typical finishing times range from about 25 minutes for the fastest participants to 30–50 minutes for most attendees.
Program participants who complete the 5K receive a commemorative medal, and all 5K runners receive a t-shirt. Every participant must wear a race bib provided by the council, and registration forms include liability waivers. The event includes additional activities such as bib blinging, water stations, cheer stations, and happy hair stations, and merchandise will be available for purchase.
The course and event are described as accessible for people with disabilities, with options to walk, roll, push, or run and designated accessible parking. Running Buddies are recommended; a Running Buddy is an individual who completes the 5K alongside a program participant for the full course and may be a parent or guardian. Parking is limited and organizers advise arriving early to complete check-in and warm up. Program participants and coaches are pre-registered for the 5K; family and community members may participate through separate registration.
