Girls on the Run Montgomery County Maryland 5K Celebration
The event is an end of season, celebratory 5K (3.1 miles) that is untimed and non competitive. It takes place on Sunday, November 22, 2026 at Westfield Montgomery Mall, 7101 Democracy Blvd, Bethesda MD. The start and finish are in Celebration Village in the northwest parking lot at the corner of Westlake Drive and Westlake Terrace, adjacent to Macy's Home.
The 5K is the closing event for Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole programs. All program participants receive a commemorative medal. Teams meet in Celebration Village; the color and number on each bib correspond to a flagged team meet up location. The course uses mall parking lot exits and nearby streets and is marshaled by volunteers and safety runners. There are no formal first aid stations on the course but course marshals and safety runners can assist if medical attention is needed.
Buddy runners must be at least 16 years old and all non program participants must register in advance. Registration opens October 5 and closes November 19 with tiered pricing: October 5–12 $40, October 13–November 8 $45, November 9–19 $55. Packet pickup is handled before the event and program participants receive their bibs through coaches.
Post 5K provisions include bananas, bars and water cups, with compost and recycling stations on site. Road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect during the event and alternative mall access is recommended. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
