About the race
The Service and Sacrifice event on November 11 in Georgetown offers two race distances that run along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path. The course is an out-and-back on a light gravel dirt road with minimal elevation change. Walkers and strollers are welcome.
Distances:
- 5k
- Half marathon
The event awards series points toward the Year-Long 5k, Endurance, Back of the Pack Series, and the Fall Series. Runners receive a finisher medal, a technical Drifit event shirt, and the race is chip timed. T shirts are guaranteed to runners registered before October 28; additional shirts may be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Water support includes seven stations on the half marathon course and one station on the 5k course, with Gatorade available at some stations. Port-a-johns are located near the check-in area. There is no official bag check; items may be left at the timing table at the finish line but organizers are not responsible for valuables.
Results are posted live on Athlinks and final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race. A virtual race option is offered. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second in standard age groups, with overall top three ineligible for age group awards.
