Girls on the Run Minnesota Duluth 5K
The KGPCo Girls on the Run Minnesota Duluth 5K is a season-closing, celebratory 5K held at Leif Erikson Park. The event is intended as a tangible milestone for program participants and emphasizes completion and confidence. The course is 3.1 miles long and is presented as a noncompetitive, joy-filled experience; while some participants complete the course in about 25 minutes, many finish closer to 60 minutes.
Every registered participant who completes the 5K receives a bib, a t-shirt, a commemorative medal and post-race food. Girls participating in the program are automatically registered and do not need to register again. Family members, friends and community members may register to participate separately; the standard registration fee is $40 with a pay-what-you-can option.
Each participating girl must have a registered 5K Buddy, defined as a trusted adult age 18 or older who can walk or run alongside her on race day. The course and event arrangements accommodate participants with disabilities; walking, running, pushing or rolling at one’s own pace is supported and designated parking is available. Volunteer roles include positions such as water stop attendants, course marshals and cheer squad members, and volunteers age 14 and older are welcome to support the event.
