5K Celebration
The Girls on the Run Greater Tampa Bay 5K Celebration is a community event held at Al Lopez Park in Tampa, FL. It serves as the culminating celebration for participants who complete the Girls on the Run or Heart & Sole eight week programs and is open to the public.
The event offers the following distances:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 1 Mile
Every registered participant who completes the 5K receives a commemorative medal and an event t-shirt. Strollers are permitted on the course and children ages four and younger do not need to register. Pets are not allowed at the event or in Celebration Village.
Packet pick-up for community participants and Running Buddies takes place at Al Lopez Park on the Friday evening before the event or on race day; coaches and current program participants do not need to pick up bibs at packet pick-up because bibs are available at the team check-in tent. A 5K participant registration fee is listed as $35 and program participants and coaches are already registered through the council.
Volunteer roles include Running Buddies and Sparklers. Running Buddies accompany a participant on the full course and Sparklers are community volunteers who support course safety and encouragement; Sparklers must be 18 years or older and have a cleared background check on file.
