Girls on the Run Greater Rochester 5K Celebration
The event is a fall season celebratory 5K held as the closing activity for Girls on the Run Greater Rochester. It is a 3.1 mile course that gives program participants of all abilities a tangible sense of accomplishment and a chance to complete a shared goal. Every registered participant who completes the 5K receives a commemorative medal.
The event takes place at Monroe Community College, Brighton Campus, 1000 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14623, on November 14, 2026. Program participants and coaches do not need separate 5K registration because their program registration includes participation. Family members, friends and community members may participate but must register; a virtual 5K option is also available so participants can complete 3.1 miles from a location they choose.
Safety and accessibility measures are in place: race bibs are required, the course is monitored by course marshalls, a safety plan guides staff and volunteers, and designated parking spots are available. The council recommends that participants use a running buddy; a running buddy is an adult or designated person who accompanies a participant for the entire course.
Volunteers support many roles including course marshalls, water stations, finish line attendants and activity stations. Volunteers appointed through the council undergo a background check. Merchandise and onsite activities such as face painting, shirt signing and temporary tattoos are offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
