Girls on the Run Greater Rochester 5K Celebration
The event is an end of season celebratory 5K held on November 14, 2026 at Monroe Community College, Brighton Campus, 1000 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester NY 14623. The closing event gives program participants of all abilities a tangible sense of accomplishment and each program participant who completes the 5K receives a commemorative medal.
The course is 3.1 miles. The event is presented as a fun, non competitive celebration; fastest participants may finish in about 25 minutes while most cross the line in 30 to 50 minutes. Participants may walk, run, roll, push or skip at their own pace. Every participant must wear a race bib and the council recommends that participants be accompanied by a running buddy. A running buddy is designated to complete the entire 5K alongside a program participant; parents or guardians may serve as running buddies.
Registration options listed by the council include Running Buddy adult, Youth Running Buddy, and Virtual Community Runner with tiered pricing that increases after October 19. Program participants and coaches do not need to register separately because 5K participation is included in program registration. All registrations include a liability waiver.
The council notes accessibility provisions and safety measures for the event, including course marshalls, a safety plan for staff and volunteers, designated accessible parking, and background checks for appointed volunteers. Volunteers are recruited for roles such as photographers, Sparkle Runners, course marshalls, water stations, finish line attendants, and Star Power Hour activity stations.
