Event Overview
Schutt's Cider Mile is an off-road running and walking event held at Schutt's Apple Mill in Webster, New York. The course takes participants through the scenic orchards of a family-owned farm that has operated since 1918. The event consists of a 1 mile distance broken into four segments.
Course Format
Participants follow a specific format during the event:
- 1/4 mile run or walk
- 4 oz cider sample
- Repeat four times
The total distance covered is 1 mile, and participants consume a total of four 4 oz cider samples. The race environment is off-road, utilizing the terrain of the apple orchards.
Participant Options
During registration, participants choose between hard cider or regular apple cider. Only those age 21 or over may select the hard cider option, and a valid ID is required at the event. Individuals under 21 or those without identification will receive regular apple cider. To manage the flow of the event, participants select start waves in 15 minute increments, with each wave limited to 60 people.
Facilities and Amenities
The event takes place at a historic farm featuring a country store and a cider press room. After the race, the farm and its tasting room remain open for visitors. Commemorative shirts are available for purchase during the registration process until a specified deadline in October.
