5K Celebration
Girls on the Run Central Illinois holds a season-closing 5K celebration at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL on Saturday, November 14, 2026. The council’s course at LLCC measures 2.9 miles, while noting an official 5K is 3.1 miles. The event is presented by Memorial Health and includes family-friendly activities, on-course and village first aid, and safety measures such as race bibs with medical information, course monitoring, head counts, and a council safety plan.
The event is open to program participants and to community members who complete separate registration. Registration fees vary by date: early bird adults $30 and youth $20; standard adults $35 and youth $25; day-of adults $40 and youth $30. Every registered community participant who completes the 5K receives a medal and a race swag bag that includes a race shirt; T-shirt sizes are guaranteed only for registrants who meet the council’s stated registration deadline. The course and event facilities are accessible for people with disabilities and designated parking is available. Dogs are not permitted on Lincoln Land Community College premises except service animals or animals present to perform specific disability-related tasks. Volunteers are recruited for roles such as packet pick-up, course marshals, first aid, finish-line medal distribution, signage and tear-down; volunteers appointed through the council must undergo a background check.
