New Salem Children's Center Turkey Trot
The New Salem Children's Center Turkey Trot is an inaugural community event held in Petersburg, Illinois. The event serves as a fundraiser to support the New Salem Children's Center, with proceeds directed toward replacing the ground covering on the center's playground to improve safety for students. Participants are encouraged to wear Thanksgiving or turkey-themed costumes while navigating the course.
The event offers two distinct participation options:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Fun Run (Untimed)
The venue features local food vendors and a photo booth for participants and spectators. Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers based on gun time. Additionally, recognition is given to the top male and female finishers in several age categories based on net time, including 10 and under, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over.
Registration includes a commemorative T-shirt for those who complete their entry by the specified early deadline.
