Girls on the Run Central Florida 5K Celebration
This event marks the end of a 10-week Girls on the Run season and gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. The event is a celebratory 5K run of 3.1 miles where participants may walk, run, roll or push at their own pace. Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal based on availability.
The 5K is designed to be inclusive and accessible. The council provides a running buddy for each participant; a running buddy is a registered individual who stays alongside the participant for the entire course. Family members, friends and community members may participate but must register. Designated parking spots are available and the course is suitable for participants using mobility aids.
Safety and event management measures include required race bibs for every participant, course monitoring and head counts, and a council safety plan that trains staff and volunteers on emergency response. Volunteer roles require registration and completion of a background check. A virtual 5K option is available for those who prefer to complete the 3.1 miles at a location they choose.
Location details are provided for the council event at Blue Jacket Park, 2501 General Rees Ave, Orlando, FL 32814. Registration pricing listed by the council includes a Running Buddy Adult fee of $35 and a Youth (17 and under) fee of $25. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
