Girls on the Run 5K - Sparta
Girls on the Run New Jersey North holds a celebratory 5K as the season finale. The event takes place on November 15, 2026 at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, NJ. The 5K course is 3.1 miles and is presented as a noncompetitive, closing event that gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment and confidence through completion. Every girl in the program receives a commemorative medal.
Registration fees are listed for the event: $35 for pre-registration, $38 for a later tier, and $40 for same‑day registration. Program participants are already registered by the council and do not need to register again. All registrations include a liability waiver. Registered participants who complete the 5K receive a t-shirt while supplies last.
The event includes safety and accessibility measures. Every participant must wear a race bib, is assigned a running buddy, and the council monitors the course and conducts head counts. A safety plan trains staff and volunteers to respond to emergencies. The event is accessible for people with disabilities and designated parking is available.
Volunteers support set up and tear down, registration, course marshaling, running buddy roles, water and cheer stations, and activity stations such as happy hair or face painting.
