Girls on the Run 5K - San Antonio
Girls on the Run Bexar County organizes a celebratory end of season 5K run and walk at Mission County Park in San Antonio. The event marks the conclusion of the program season and gives participants a tangible sense of accomplishment by completing a 3.1 mile course and receiving a commemorative medal.
Registered participants receive a race shirt; volunteers receive a volunteer shirt. The event includes a festival atmosphere with booths, vendors and food trucks, activity stations such as face painting and bling your bib, and a medal ceremony. Maps and parking plans are provided for race village areas, volunteer parking, and course locations.
The council requires a signed liability waiver for all registrants and issues race bibs for identification. Safety measures include assigned running buddies, course monitoring, head counts, and a documented safety plan for staff and volunteers. The course is accessible for people with disabilities and allows walking, running, pushing, or rolling.
Registration fees vary by date and include an early bird option, a general online price that increases after October 1, and a day of event price. Volunteer roles cover setup, finish line support, route marshals, water stops, parking monitors, and teardown; volunteers 18 and older must complete background checks.
