Girls on the Run 5K - San Antonio
Girls on the Run South Central Texas holds a season closing 5K celebration at Mission County Park, 6030 Padre Drive, San Antonio, TX 78214. The event is presented as a celebratory close to the program season and gives participants a tangible sense of accomplishment.
The course is a 5K (3.1 miles). Every girl registered in the program receives a commemorative medal. Registered participants receive a Girls on the Run Bexar County race shirt; official volunteers receive a volunteer shirt. Registration includes liability waivers and has tiered pricing: an early bird rate, a higher online rate after October 1, and a day of event rate. Fall 2026 program participants have already been registered and do not need to register again.
The event includes a festival atmosphere with vendors, food trucks, merchandise sales by the council, and family friendly activities such as face painting, bling your bib, and happy hair stations. The course and event are described as accessible for people who walk, run, roll, or push, and designated accessible parking is available. A running buddy accompanies each program participant through the entire course.
Safety measures include mandatory race bibs, course monitoring and head counts, trained staff and volunteers with a council safety plan, and requirements for volunteer applications and background checks for volunteers aged 18 or older.
