About the race
Ghost Train Trail Races is a multi-race trail event in Brookline, New Hampshire held over October 17-18, 2026. The event raises funds for the Brookline and Milford Conservation Commissions, and all profits are returned to trail preservation and access. The course follows the Granite Town Rail Trail, a former railroad corridor through wooded terrain. The corridor retains remnants of its rail history, including weathered railroad ties and a former industrial route used to move granite and ice.
The event takes place in October when foliage is typically at peak color and daylight hours are shorter. Five races are offered in 2026, with separate entry fees and formats: - 30-Hour Ultramarathon $125 - 30-Hour 7-Person Relay $350 - Haunted Night 30-Mile Race $65 - 15-Mile Race $35 - 15-Mile Relay $35 Event status notes for 2026 include sold out entries for the 30-Hour Ultramarathon and the 30-Hour 7-Person Relay. The Haunted Night 30-Mile Race is managed by a waitlist. Registration is non-refundable and entries cannot be deferred; fees become donations to the conservation commissions if an entrant cannot attend. Additional event materials such as a course map and a handbook are available from the event organizers.
The race has been held annually since 2009 as a fundraiser for local trail stewardship. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
