The Ghost Train Trail Races take place October 17 - 18, 2026 in Brookline, New Hampshire, at 1 Mason Rd. The event is a fundraiser for the Brookline and Milford Conservation Commissions; all profits are directed to trail preservation and access. Registration for the races opens January 31, 2026. Entries are non-refundable and cannot be deferred; if a registrant cannot attend, the fee becomes a donation to the conservation commissions.
Races and course
Organizers offer five race options in 2026 with the following entry fees: 30-Hour Ultramarathon ($125), 30-Hour 7-Person Relay ($350), Haunted Night 30-Mile ($65), 15-Mile Race ($35), and 15-Mile Relay ($35). The waitlist for the 30-Hour Ultramarathon will be capped at 175 runners.
The course follows the Granite Town Rail Trail, a former railroad corridor through the woods. The route passes areas with exposed, weathered railroad ties and runs along a corridor once used to carry granite and harvested ice. The event is held in October when foliage is at peak color and the trail passes through wooded terrain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
