Get Your Butt Kicked at Route 66
This event takes place at Route 66 State Park near Eureka, MO, along the Meramec River. It offers timed running options on a measured 2.425 mile loop that follows a wide path of thin pavement, chip and seal, and fine gravel through shaded woodlands. The terrain is described as flat and fast. The event occurs in mid summer when temperature and humidity can be very high and participants should be acclimated and maintain hydration.
Runners complete as many long loops as possible within the chosen time limit. When there is not enough time for another long loop, participants may continue on a short loop that is 0.333 miles. Final distance equals long loops times 2.425 miles plus short loops times 0.333 miles.
Aid and facilities center on the Forest Shelter. The Forest Shelter will serve as the main aid station and will provide Ultra Food and water jugs as this is a cupless event. Participants must bring their own hydration system and are required to carry a headlamp or handheld light for running after dark. Two unisex flush toilets and two porta potties are available on the course. Parking is available at Forest Shelter, Dogwood Shelter, and near the Times Beach Memorial Playground.
The event is organized by the Saint Louis Ultrarunners Group and supports group activities such as trail maintenance and aid stations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
