Geo Foundation 4th Annual 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk : Brookdale Park, Bloomfield, NJ
The event on May 17, 2026, takes place at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield, NJ. The schedule includes registration, a welcome ceremony, the race, and a closing ceremony. Organizers are pursuing a USATF sanction and will update the event status.
Distances:
- 5K run roughly three laps around the park, with start and finish accurately marked and timed
- 1 Mile walk one lap around the park
Runners start first, followed by walkers. Participants can choose not to be timed when registering. Awards will be given separately for female and male categories in these age groups: 62+, 51-61, 40-50, 29-39, 22-28, 17-21, 14-16, and 11-13. Special awards apply for all participants 10 and under.
Food and refreshments will be available at the beginning and end of the event, including bagels, bananas, oranges, and acai bowls served after the race. Parking is available at the Brookdale Park lot; the meeting point for the race launch is just south of the parking area near the children's playground, with signs to guide participants.
Proceeds support the Geo Foundation’s two programs: a Community Fund that awards scholarships across five high schools, including Bloomfield, Glen Ridge, Montclair, and Wayne Hills & Valley, and a Family Assistance Fund that provides funding to families with a child receiving care at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
