Geelong Half Marathon
The 2026 Geelong Half Marathon is scheduled for Sunday 12 April 2026. The event is organised by the Geelong Cross Country Club and is held on a course that follows the Barwon River in Geelong.
Distances
- Geelong Half Marathon 21.1 km
- 5 km Run
The half marathon route runs along the Barwon River from Belmont to Breakwater, continues to Fyansford and returns to Belmont. Both races start and finish near the Belmont Park Pavilion at 162 Barrabool Road, under the James Harrison Bridge on the south side of the Barwon River.
Entry numbers are capped to limit congestion at parking, toilets, drink stations and on the course. The event acts as the club’s annual fundraiser; entry fees support Geelong’s University Hospital, in particular the Andrew Love Cancer Centre.
On event day there is a designated bag storage area near the start; belongings should be in a closed bag clearly marked with the event number. Drink stations are positioned at specified kilometre points and supply water and sports drink; water is provided in compostable cups and runners are asked to drop cups near bins after each station. All finishers receive a medal and refreshments.
Prizes include cash awards for fastest male and female and age-group first places, a bonus for a new course record, and separate prize placings for the 5 km run. Gun time is used for overall placings; net time is used for age-group winners and course records. Ages are as of race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
