Event Overview
The Geelong Half Marathon is an annual event organized by the Geelong Cross Country Club. It offers two race distances: a 21.1 km half marathon and a 5 km run. The event is described as a relatively simple, friendly, and affordable race.
Course and Location
The course runs along the Barwon River in Geelong. The half marathon route goes from Belmont to Breakwater, then up to Fyansford and back to Belmont. The 5 km run covers the first 2 km of the half marathon course before turning upstream and then back downstream to the finish. Both races start and finish near the Belmont Park Pavilion at 162 Barrabool Road.
Event Features
Entry numbers are capped to limit congestion. Drink stations are provided along the course, offering water and sports drink in compostable cups. A bag storage area is available near the start line. All finishers receive a medal and refreshments.
Results and Prizes
Results are available through Tomato Timing during and after the event. Prize money is awarded for the half marathon and 5 km run across various age categories. There is also a bonus prize for breaking the half marathon course record. A portion of entry fees supports the Geelong University Hospital, specifically the Andrew Love Cancer Centre.
