40th Anniversary Memorial Event
The Gate to Gate Memorial Run/Walk is a traditional 4.4-mile race held at Eglin Air Force Base. The 2026 edition marks the 40th anniversary of the event and serves as a cornerstone tribute for the America 250 celebrations. The race follows a classic route designed to honor service members from all military branches.
Participants can choose between two primary categories:
- 4.4-mile Run
- 4.4-mile Walk
The event is open to both Department of Welfare (DoW) personnel and the general public, though non-DoW participants must complete registration by a specific deadline to undergo required security vetting for base access. Registration is limited to 1,500 entries, and commemorative medals are reserved for the first 1,000 participants.
The course is open to individual participants and teams of up to four members. Team categories are divided into Male, Female, and Co-ed groups. For those with specific needs, strollers are permitted on the course, and authorized service dogs are allowed. However, the use of skates, skateboards, and bicycles is prohibited.
Access to the installation requires a photo ID and pre-registration for all guests. Military shuttles are utilized to transport participants from designated parking areas to the starting line. An official awards ceremony takes place following the completion of the race to recognize top finishers in various age categories from 12 to over 80 years old.
