About the race
The 46th annual memorial C&O Canal Five Mile Run takes place on the C&O Canal Towpath in Williamsport, Maryland on June 12, 2027. The event features two race categories covering 5 Miles, including a student category.
Registration opens January 26, 2027. Regular registration closes February 6, 2027; student registration remains open through race day. Entry fees listed for the two categories are $30.00 and $20.00. A race technical T-shirt is included for registrations made by May 11 to guarantee a shirt and size.
Race services include custom awards for podium finishers, on-course music, and bib chip timing with instant results provided by Racine Timing. The event traces its history to 1970 and was renamed in 1982 as a memorial to a local distance coach who died in 1981-82; the race was historically used as an end-of-summer training fitness test by high school programs.
Parking for participants is required in the Cushwa Basin parking lot, the Lock House 44 parking lot, or in legal street parking on N Commerce St or W Salisbury St. Organizers ask that drivers not cross the wooden bridge looking for parking on race morning.
