Garden of the Gods 10 Mile, 10K and Trail Run
The Garden of the Gods races are a long-running set of events held in Garden of the Gods Park in Colorado Springs. Courses run through the park’s 300-foot sandstone formations, including Balanced Rock, and finish together at historic Rock Ledge Ranch where a post-race area offers food, beer, music, and vendors.
Distances include:
- 10 Mile road race
- 10K road race
- Trail Run (10K trail)
The road courses start at the park main entrance and loop through the park on mostly asphalt roads, with short sections of concrete walkway and gravel. The 10 Mile course ranges from about 6,210 ft to 6,530 ft in elevation, with nearly 1,000 feet of total elevation gain. Eight aid stations are placed on the road course, providing water and Gatorade. Roads within the park are closed during the race; the park reopens at 10:00 am and a finish line cutoff is set at 9:30 am.
The trail race shares the same start on Gateway Road. Within the first quarter mile the route turns to dirt with gravel, rocks, and roots, follows the Homestead Trail, passes the Valley Reservoir area, crosses Ridge Road, and continues on central park trails. The trail offers views of Pikes Peak and the Garden rock formations.
The event also supports local causes: in 2025 donations included $7,400 to high school teams and $3,880 for Garden of the Gods trail restoration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
