Frozen Trash Panda : Monte Sano State Park, Huntsville, AL
Frozen Trash Panda is a trail running event held at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL. It is Race #2 of the Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series and offers two distances:
- 10K
- Half Marathon
Courses include bluff viewpoints, mountain scenery, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Several aid stations are placed on course and provide water, Gatorade, coke, GU, pretzels, M&M's, granola bars, and similar items. The event is a cupless race; participants must carry a handheld bottle, pack, or reusable cup. A RunningLane reusable cup is available for purchase at checkout for $5.
The field is capped at 400 runners. All entrants in the 10K and half marathon receive a short sleeve tri-blend race shirt and a finisher award; the shirt is the same design across the series. Packet pickup is available at the RunningLane Store in Huntsville, and additional pickup is offered the morning of the race.
Age groups run from 0-9 through 70+ for all races. Organizers state there will be very loose cutoffs and note a 17 minute per mile cutoff for Long Series participants. In severe weather the start may be delayed or the event canceled. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
