Event Overview
The Frozen Trash Panda is a trail running event taking place at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, Alabama. It is the second race in the Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series, which consists of three winter races.
Distances and Courses
Runners can choose between two race distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
Course maps and elevation profiles for each distance are available via separate links. The courses feature bluff views, mountain scenery, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Aid stations will be provided, stocked with water, Gatorade, cola, GU, pretzels, M&M's, and granola bars. This is a cupless race; participants must bring their own handheld bottle, pack, or reusable cup.
Registration and Details
Registration is capped at 400 runners. All participants receive a short sleeve tri-blend t-shirt and a finisher award. The shirt design is the same for the entire Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series. Age group awards are structured in 10-year increments from 0-9 to 70+.
Packet pickup is available the day before the race at the RunningLane Store in Huntsville, and on race morning from 7:00 AM to 7:45 AM. The event sponsor, Marco's Pizza, provides pizza for participants at the finish line.
The event uses a loose cutoff pace, with a suggestion that participants not maintaining a 15-minute mile pace consider the shorter series distances. There are no refunds, deferrals, or transfers for entries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
