Friends of the Poor 5K Walk/Run and Kiddy-K
The Friends of the Poor event on October 3, 2026 takes place at Kings Landing Park, 3255 Kings Landing Road, Huntingtown, Maryland. The main event is a professionally timed 5K held on a fast, mostly flat course that winds through parkland and wooded trails. A children’s Kiddy-K is offered for participants aged 10 and under.
The event supports local families in financial hardship with a fundraising goal of $18,000. The St. Katherine Drexel Conference provides assistance to about 600 individuals and families each year and this event contributes to that work.
Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers and to the top male and female finishers in each age division. Event features noted for the morning include kids’ games and activities, appearances by the local fire department, door prizes, raffle items including a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction, and family-friendly entertainment.
Registration is open between May 30, 2026 and September 14, 2026 and the registration fee is $30.00. Business sponsorship and workplace team options are available with recognition for sponsors. Donor giving levels include Champion of Hope $1,000 and above, Star Patron $500 and above, Community Steward $200 to $499, Partner in Hope $100 to $199, Humanitarian $50 to $99, Compassionate Friend $20 to $49, and Angel Supporter $10 to $19.
