Friends of the Poor 5K Walk/Run & Kiddy-K - Kings Landing Park, Huntingtown MD
The Friends of the Poor 5K Walk/Run and accompanying Kiddy-K take place at Kings Landing Park in Huntingtown, Maryland. The event follows a scenic course along the Patuxent River and through wooded sections, open meadows and wetlands, with opportunities to see local wildlife.
Proceeds support the St. Katherine Drexel Conference and its work assisting local families. The event has a fundraising goal of $18,000 and the conference helps approximately 600 individuals and families each year. The published registration fee is $30. Registration opens May 30, 2026 and closes September 23, 2026.
A children’s Kiddy-K is offered for participants aged 10 and under. Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers and to the top male and female finishers in each age division. Additional morning activities include kids games and activities, appearances by the local Fire Department, door prizes, raffle items including a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction, and family friendly entertainment.
Businesses can participate through sponsorship and a Corporate Team Challenge with recognitions for Top Fundraising Team, Largest Team, and Community Champion Award. Donor and sponsor levels are listed, including Champion of Hope at $1,000 and higher, and a range of lower tiers down to Angel Supporter at $10 to $19.
