Event overview
The Friends of the National Arboretum Fall 5K is scheduled for November 9, 2025, at the U.S. National Arboretum in Washington, D.C. The event offers two options:
- 5K - in-person run or walk
- VIRTUAL 5K - run or walk remotely and submit results
The Arboretum covers 451 acres and the course passes garden collections, tree-lined rolling hills, and streams that lead to the Anacostia River. Roads within the Arboretum are closed to cars during the event.
Entry, logistics and awards
General 5K pricing and tiers are listed, with the in-person 5K using tiered ticket pricing and the virtual 5K priced separately. Tickets for children under 13 are free; free entries do not include a t-shirt. Participants who register before October 10 are guaranteed a t-shirt; after that, shirts are available while supplies last. The event permits strollers and dogs; dogs must remain on a 6' non-retractable leash.
Early packet pick-up is available the day before near Arbor House (R Street entrance) and there is packet pick-up the morning of the race at the race start area in front of the Capitol Columns. Awards are given immediately after the event to top overall male, female, and non-binary finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group (15 & under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+).
