Friends of the National Arboretum Fall 5K

The event is a run or walk held at the U.S. National Arboretum in Washington, DC. The course passes garden collections showing fall foliage, goes over tree-lined rolling hills, and follows streams that run toward the Anacostia River. The Arboretum covers 451 acres of urban green space. All roads are closed to cars during the in-person race. A professional race announcer will call out runners at the finish and there will be music before and after the event.

There are two entry options:

• 5K in person
• 5K virtual

Registration opens May 18, 2026 and closes October 30, 2026. The in-person 5K has a registration fee of $60.00; the virtual 5K has a registration fee of $35.00. For the virtual option, participants run or walk a 5K and submit their results. Strollers are allowed. Dogs are allowed but must remain on a 6' non-retractable leash.
