Event details
The Semper Fi event on October 24 offers two race distances along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path in Washington, DC. Distances include:
- 5k
- Half Marathon
Walkers are welcome. A virtual race option is available. Points from this event count toward the Year-Long 5k, Endurance, Back of the Pack Series, and the Fall Series. The event benefits the Semper Fi & America’s Fund.
Course and services
Both races are out-and-back routes on the C&O Canal path, described as a light gravel trail with minimal elevation change. The half marathon starts and finishes in Georgetown near the Potomac Boat Club; the 5k starts and finishes at Fletcher’s Boathouse. The half marathon has a completion time limit of 3:15. Water stations are provided - seven stations on the half marathon at approximate mile markers 1.55, 3.8, 4.3, 6.55, 8.8, 9.3 and 11.55, and one station on the 5k at about mile 1.55; Gatorade will be available at some stations. Restrooms and port-a-johns are located near the registration and start areas. There is no official bag check; items may be left at the timing table but organizers are not responsible.
Registration and results
Registered participants receive a finisher’s medal, a technical Dri-FIT shirt, and chip timing. Entry fees vary by distance and registration date, with higher fees after specified deadlines and a race-morning increase. Live results will be posted online and final results with series points will be posted on the Monday after the race. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second in listed age categories; overall top-three finishers are not eligible for age-group awards.
