Laufvergnügen in Washington, DC
Laufvergnügen is a timed, measured running event held at Fletcher's Cove in Washington, DC on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The event offers multiple distances that all start and finish in the same place and conclude at a shared Oktoberfest-style finish area. The course is measured and the event awards top finishers.
The distances offered are:
- Half Marathon, 13.1 Miles
- 10K, 6.2 Miles
- 5K, 3.1 Miles
Every registration includes finish-line food with no separate vouchers: bratwurst, warm soft pretzels, handmade mustard, sauerkraut, and fresh buns. Because the event takes place on National Park Service property, alcoholic beer is not served; near beer is provided instead. The atmosphere includes runners wearing traditional costumes such as lederhosen and a festive post-race gathering.
Walking is permitted and there is no cutoff that will catch a walker, a fact emphasized for the 5K. The event returned after a previous year in which operations went virtual; this edition uses the same course and post-race spread described previously.
