Course and race day information
The route is hilly and mostly single track, combining grassy trods, hard-packed footpaths and some technical sections with loose rocks. There is a very steep initial ascent and several technical descents, including one through historic mining hushes, then a return to Reeth following Arkle Beck and passing through the Heggs-Castle renaturing area. The course is fully marked with orange tape, pin flags and coloured arrow signs; key turns and road crossings are manned by marshals, and a map/GPX/PDF of the route is available for download.
Registration takes place at Low Fremington Village Hall, where toilets are available. Parking is provided in a nearby working field that may be muddy (what3words: cloud.gains.prominent). Mandatory kit may be checked and includes taped-seam waterproofs (jacket and trousers), a hat or buff, gloves and an emergency blanket or bivvy bag. An aid station will offer mainly water and some snacks; post-race hot and cold drinks and cakes are provided by Swaledale Seedlings. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
