The Freebird 5K is a running and walking event held in Lexington, Kentucky. The event honors the life and legacy of Charles "Charlie" O'Connell, a dedicated public servant from Lexington.

Location and Course
The event takes place at Coldstream Dog Park on the Legacy Trail. The course is described as flat, fast, and scenic.
Event Features
Participants can receive a commemorative unisex-sized T-shirt. There is also a packet pickup on the morning of the race at the park. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three male and female finishers in multiple age groups, from 0-14 up to 70+. Free race photos are provided, and there is a finish line photo contest. Participants are encouraged to form social teams, with a prize for the largest team. Food is available at the event.
Beneficiary
