Girls on the Run Central Kentucky 5K Celebration
The event is a season closing celebratory 5K (3.1 miles) hosted by Girls on the Run Central Kentucky at Keeneland in Lexington, KY on December 5, 2026. It serves as the culmination of the council’s eight week program and provides a measurable endpoint for teams that trained together during the season.
More than 325 girls are expected to cross the finish as part of the program. Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal. Program participants and coaches are already registered through the council and do not need additional registration; community members and family members outside the program must register and pay the listed fees. Early online pricing is shown at $25 adult and $20 youth, with general online pricing shown at $30 adult and $25 youth. For non program participants the price increases four weeks before the event.
The event includes in person, site based and virtual 5K options. Safety measures include required race bibs, assigned running buddies, course monitoring and a council safety plan that trains staff and volunteers. The course is described as accessible for people with disabilities and designated parking spots are available. Volunteers support setup, registration, course marshalling, running buddy roles, water stations, cheer stations and activity stations such as face painting and happy hair; volunteers appointed through the council undergo a background check.
