Frankston Running Festival
The Frankston Running Festival is a bayside running event held in November on the Frankston foreshore, with start and finish at the Frankston Pier and a course that follows the Nepean Highway to Eel Race Road, Carrum, before looping back. The event attracts participants from across Australia and international visitors and brings approximately 2,000 or more athletes, supporters and family to the area over the weekend.
Race distances include:
- 15 km
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 1 km Kids Race
Course operations include staged northbound lane closures on the Nepean Highway; southbound traffic is mostly unaffected aside from a reduced speed zone. Access in and out of properties is maintained, side roads remain open, and traffic controllers are present to assist.
Facilities and services on race day include disposable timing bibs with integrated timing chips, water and 32GI sports drink roughly every 2.5 km and at the finish, public and portable toilets, bike parking, a clothing bag drop area, and first aid provision on site and along the course. All finishers receive a commemorative finisher’s medal. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age category for each distance. Participants must complete the full course and all turnaround points to receive official results. Certain items are not permitted on course, including dogs, bikes, prams, scooters and rollerblades.
