Event Overview

The Fox Lake Sprint Triathlon is the 9th annual edition of this USAT-sanctioned event. It takes place on June 7, 2026, at LakeFront Park on Nippersink Boulevard in Fox Lake, Illinois. The event features a single sprint-distance course.

Race distances:

  • Swim: 750 yards
  • Bike: 12 miles
  • Run: 3.1 miles (5K)

Both individual participants and relay teams of two or three people are welcome. Registration for the event closes on June 5, 2026.

Course Details

The swim is a triangular course in Nippersink Lake, marked by buoys including inflatable duck and swan buoys. The 12-mile bike route is described as having rolling hills and straight sections. The 3.1-mile run is an out-and-back course, with over two miles on a paved asphalt bike path.

The event is a no-draft bike race with a USAT official on the course. Parking is available within two blocks of the transition area, and the finish line is close to transition. A finish line celebration includes food and music for all participants, with awards presented after the last finisher.

Additional Information

This event is also the first race in the optional Lake County Tri Series, which includes the Fox Lake, Lake Zurich, and Wauconda triathlons for a single combined rate. Participants in the main event receive a choice of a hat or visor as swag. Packet pickup is available in the days before the race at a partner location and at the race site.
