The 9th Annual Fox Lake Sprint Triathlon
The Fox Lake Sprint Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned event held at LakeFront Park in Fox Lake, Illinois. The competition features a sprint-distance course designed around Nippersink Lake and the local paved paths. Participants can enter as individuals or as part of a relay team consisting of two or three people.
The event follows a specific three-part course:
- 750 yard swim: A triangle-shaped course in Nippersink Lake featuring inflatable markers.
- 12 mile bike: A route characterized by rolling hills and straight road sections.
- 3.1 mile run: An out and back course primarily on a paved asphalt bike path.
The swim uses a time trial start, with athletes entering the water every five seconds. The bike portion is a no-draft course, and USAT officials are present during the race. Transition areas are located within two blocks of parking, and the finish line is situated near the transition zone.
Participants receive a choice of event merchandise, such as a hat or a visor. Food and music are provided at the finish line area, where age group awards are distributed following the completion of the race. The event is also part of a larger regional series that includes triathlons in Lake Zurich and Wauconda. Registration for the Fox Lake event closes on June 5, 2026.
