The courses are described as tough and beautiful, featuring trails with rocks and roots, several stream crossings, and significant hills. The half marathon course is approximately 13.5 miles with about 1,400 feet of elevation gain. It includes a long stretch of the Bull Run Occoquan Trail (BROT) and three side trails. The 10K course is approximately 6.9 miles (noted as "11ishK") with about 700 feet of elevation gain. It uses a shorter section of the BROT and one side trail known for a notable climb.
