Fountainhead Half Marathon and 10K Trail Run
The Fountainhead Half Marathon and 10K Trail Run takes place Sunday May 3, 2026 at Fountainhead Regional Park in Fairfax Station, Virginia, about 30 minutes outside Washington D.C. The event also serves as the Collegiate Running Association US Trail Running Championship.
The courses follow sections of the Bull-Run Occoquan Trail (BROT) and include side trails, rocky and rooty singletrack, several stream crossings, and multiple climbs. Aid stations provide water and Gatorade on both courses; the 10K course has four aid stations and the half marathon has seven. The aid station around mile 7 on the half marathon offers snacks and a portajohn.
Course options:
- 13.5ish miles (half marathon plus), approx 1,400 feet elevation gain.
- 6.9ish miles (10K plus), approx 700 feet elevation gain.
Portajohns are available at the start and finish and on course at specified mile markers. Race numbers must be worn on the front and visible at all times. Portable music players requiring in ear headphones are not permitted and pets, pacers, and baby strollers are not allowed on course. Age group divisions are offered for Men, Women, and Non Binary athletes across standard adult and masters ranges.
