Fountainhead Half Marathon and 10K Trail Run
The Fountainhead Half Marathon and 10K Trail Run are held at Fountainhead Regional Park in Fairfax Station, Virginia. The courses use sections of the Bull-Run Occoquan Trail (BROT); the half marathon includes a six mile stretch from Fountainhead to Bull Run Marina and three seldom used side trails. The 10K uses a shorter BROT section and one side trail that includes a steep climb.
There are multiple staffed aid stations along both courses. The 10K course has four aid stations and the half marathon has seven aid stations. All aid stations offer water and Gatorade; the aid station at about mile seven on the half marathon course also provides snacks and a portajohn.
The event is open to all runners and also serves as the Collegiate Running Association US Trail Running Championship. Virtual 10K and virtual half marathon options are offered. During registration participants have the opportunity to support the local nonprofit Homestretch; the stated goal of this partnership is to raise awareness of Homestretch services and to raise funds to support those efforts.
