Forever Young Run
The Forever Young Run takes place in Placitas, New Mexico. The event honors the memory of Charlie Young, a local outdoorsman and member of the Albuquerque Road Runners Club. The races are held on Forest Loop Road, utilizing a dirt surface that features rolling hills throughout a landscape characterized by pinon and juniper trees.
Participants can choose from two distinct distances:
- 3 miles: A loop that follows the main course for 1.5 miles before turning back to the start and finish area.
- 6 miles: A full loop consisting of a wide dirt road.
The event is held on a south-side trailhead and parking area off Highway 165. Awards are given to the overall first male and female finishers in both the 3 mile and 6 mile events. Additionally, awards are presented to the top three finishers in several age categories, including 15 and under, 16-25, 26-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
Post-race refreshments, such as breakfast burritos, are provided for participants. Registration is available online until the day before the event, and entry fees are non-refundable unless the race is cancelled. Parking is available diagonally along the shoulders of the highway near the start and finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
