Flyathlon 2026 Red Deer

The Flyathlon is a multi sport event that integrates trail running, fishing, and craft beer. It is organized by Freshwater Conservation Canada and raises funds for projects related to freshwater ecosystems.

The total route distance is 5 km. The course starts at Canada 150 Place and finishes at the Troubled Monk in Red Deer. Participants run the trail carrying rods and gear and may stop along the route to cast and attempt to catch fish. Participants are asked to record species and estimated size of any catch for prize eligibility.

Volunteers will be available along the route to help participants who have not fished before. Prizes are planned for top fundraisers, top course finishers, smallest and largest fish caught, and other categories.

Registration includes a race tee, one drink ticket, food, and a $50 tax receipt. The registration fee is $100 and participants are asked to fundraise a minimum of $250. Funds raised will be used for on the ground freshwater conservation projects. The event policy states that there are no refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
