Flint's Fabulous 5K is a community 5 kilometer run and walk held at 150 North Research Campus Drive in Kannapolis, North Carolina on September 26, 2026. The event donates registration proceeds and optional add-on donations to Leashes of Valor, a nonprofit that provides fully trained service dogs at no cost to post-9/11 veterans.
Event registration is offered with a shirt option and a no-shirt option. The listed prices include taxes and fees: $30.88 for registration with a shirt and supplies, and $23.39 for registration without a shirt. The base registration covers race entry, a race shirt when selected, and training treats or supplies for a dog in training. Additional donation levels correspond to specific training items such as food, vests, vaccinations, and other supplies. All proceeds are directed to Leashes of Valor and dog training resources.
Leashes of Valor trains puppies from about eight weeks until roughly 1.5 to 2.0 years, using approved foster families and providing veterinary care during training. The organization reports that a fully trained service dog costs about $30,000 on average and is provided to a veteran at no cost.
The event is dog friendly. Participants are asked to bring well socialized dogs, to clean up after them, and to consider leaving dogs home when extreme heat could pose a risk. Packet pickup provides shirts, bibs, and safety pins the day prior or at the start/finish area, and finisher bags are distributed at the finish line.
