Flint's Fabulous 5K : Kannapolis, NC
Flint's Fabulous 5K takes place in Kannapolis, North Carolina, at 150 North Research Campus Drive on September 26, 2026. The event is organized to raise funds for Leashes of Valor, a national nonprofit that provides fully trained service dogs at no cost to post 9/11 veterans affected by PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and related conditions.
Proceeds from registration and optional add-on donations support foster families, veterinary care, training supplies, and other resources needed while dogs train from about 8 weeks of age until roughly 1.5 to 2.0 years. The organization reports an average cost of $30,000 to fully train a service dog. Leashes of Valor representatives will be onsite to share information about dogs in training and the program.
This is the third annual running of Flint's Fabulous 5K and the event is included in the Run Kannapolis Race Series. Series registration for all eight races offers a 25% discount. Registration options listed for the 5K include a package with a race shirt and supplies and a lower-cost option without a shirt; participants who register by September 11 are guaranteed a shirt.
The event is dog friendly; dogs should be well socialized and handlers are asked to clean up after their animals and consider leaving dogs home if conditions are too hot.
