Flint's Fabulous 5K

Flint's Fabulous 5K takes place in Kannapolis, North Carolina on September 26, 2026, at 150 North Research Campus Drive. The event is a run or walk with proceeds directed to the nonprofit Leashes of Valor.

Leashes of Valor provides highly trained service dogs at no cost to post 9/11 veterans to help with symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, and other unseen wounds of military service. Training for each dog begins at about 8 weeks of age and continues until roughly 1.5 to 2.0 years, during which time dogs live with approved foster families while learning basic manners, public access skills, and medical alert tasks. Leashes of Valor supplies veterinary care and training resources and often sources dogs from local shelters. On average a fully trained service dog costs about $30,000.

Race registration includes a base option that covers registration, a race shirt, and training treats; a no shirt option is also offered. Participants may add optional donations that correspond to specific training needs such as food, vests, beds, vaccinations, and other supplies. The 2026 event is part of the Run Kannapolis Race Series; registering for all eight races in the series provides a 25 percent discount.

The event is dog friendly when dogs are well socialized and conditions are safe for animals. Packet pickup provides shirts, bibs, and safety pins; finisher bags are distributed at the finish.
