Event Overview
The University City Turkey Trot is an annual community event held in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Thanksgiving Day. Now in its 13th year, the event takes place at 3024 Prosperity Church Road and serves as a benefit for Sickle Cell Partners of the Carolinas (SCPOC), a non-profit organization supporting families affected by Sickle Cell Disease.
The event features several participation options:
- 5k run or walk
- 1k fun run for children
Participants who register by the specified deadline of November 6, 2026, receive an event t-shirt. All participants are guaranteed a finisher medal. The event also includes a costume contest with prizes awarded for three different winners. Official race rankings are recognized with prizes for the top three overall finishers, as well as the top two male and female finishers in various age categories.
Activities and Logistics
The event includes a post-race gathering featuring food, drinks, games, and music. In conjunction with the races, an annual food drive is held, where participants can donate non-perishable items to support local community members.
Packet pick-up is organized prior to the event at a designated location on East Arbors Drive. There is no registration or packet collection available on the day of the race.
