FlatRock 50K - Independence, KS (September 26, 2026)
FlatRock is a trail running event held at Elk City Lake with race headquarters at the Outlet Channel Group Shelter in Independence, Kansas. The event is organized by FlatRock Race Series and is part of the FlatRock Triple Crown series for runners who complete three specified events.
The course is a technical, primarily single-track out-and-back along the Elk River Hiking Trail. The measured forest trail passes limestone bluffs, rock formations, and scenic vistas.

Aid stations and support vary by distance. The 50K has seven aid stations, five fully stocked with water, electrolyte drink, and snack-type foods including soup and sandwiches, plus two water-only stations; distances between stations are about 3.5 to 5 miles. The 25K has three aid stations, the 12K has one, and the 5K has no aid stations. Drop bags are allowed only for the 50K and may be left at designated locations for transport to selected aid stations. Crew access for the 50K is allowed at specific aid locations.
Packet pickup is offered twice, including a Friday evening packet pickup with a pre-race spaghetti dinner that includes vegetarian and gluten free options. Complimentary race photos will be provided.
Policies cover deferrals and transfer credit on a sliding scale, no refunds for cancellations, DNF and DQ procedures, and basic race rules such as no littering, allowed trekking poles, and dogs required to be on leash.
