FlatRock at Elk City Lake, Independence KS
FlatRock offers trail races of multiple distances around Elk City Lake with a forested, primarily single-track course along the Elk River Hiking Trail. The course passes limestone bluffs, rock formations, and scenic vistas.

Aid stations vary by distance. The 50K has seven aid stations, five fully stocked with water, electrolyte drink, and snack-type foods including soup and sandwiches, and two water-only stations. The 25K has three aid stations with similar staffing at two of them. The 12K has one fully stocked aid station. The 5K has no aid stations.
Drop bags are allowed only for the 50K, limited to about shoebox size, left at the Outlet Channel Group Shelter and transported to designated aid stations. Crew access is permitted for the 50K at OakRidge and the turnaround. Complimentary race photos are provided by Mile 90 Photography.
Packet pickup includes a Friday evening session with a pre-race spaghetti dinner and vegetarian and gluten free options, and a morning pickup at the staging area prior to the races. The race headquarters is the Outlet Channel Group Shelter on the north side of the Elk City Lake dam.
