FlatRock 101 is scheduled for April 17, 2027 in Independence, KS, at Elk City Lake. The event is organized by FlatRock Race Series and offers multiple race distances on the Elk River Hiking Trail.

The course is a double out-and-back on the Elk River Hiking Trail. The trail is mostly single-track, very rocky, and passes limestone bluffs, rock formations, and scenic vistas. Aid stations are placed approximately every 3.5 to 5 miles; counts vary by distance (for example, the 101 Mile has 24 aid stations, the 101K has 15, and the 50K has 7). The 5K has no aid stations.

There are two packet pickup opportunities, including a Friday evening pickup with a pre-race spaghetti dinner offering vegetarian and gluten free options, and an early morning pickup at the staging area. Drop bags are allowed for the 50K, 101K, and 101 Mile and will be transported to designated aid stations; runners are advised to use a small, secure, waterproof bag and to collect drop bags after the race.

Crew access is allowed for 50K, 101K, and 101 Mile at Oak Ridge, the Turnaround, and the Start/Finish. Pacers are permitted for 101K and 101 Mile after the specified distance milestones and must sign a waiver. Campsites and showers are available near the start, and hotels are available in Independence about seven miles away. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
