FlatRock 101 - April 17, 2027
FlatRock 101 is a multi-distance trail event held at Elk City Lake, near Independence, KS. The event uses a double out and back on the Elk River Hiking Trail, a measured forest route with single-track sections, limestone bluffs, rock formations, and scenic vistas. The trail is described as very rocky with no long hills.
Distances offered include:
- 101 Mile
- 101K
- 50K
- 25K
- 12K
- 5K
Aid station support varies by distance. Examples: the 101 Mile course has 24 aid stations (18 fully stocked; 6 water only); the 101K has 15 aid stations (11 fully stocked; 4 water only). Typical spacing between stations is about 3.5 to 5 miles. Drop bags are allowed for 50K, 101K, and 101 Mile and are returned to the Outlet Channel Group Shelter as aid stations close.
Crew access is permitted for 50K, 101K, and 101 Mile at Oak Ridge, the Turnaround, and the Start/Finish. Pacers are allowed for 101K and 101 Mile after specified distances and must sign a waiver. Packet pickup includes a Friday evening option with a spaghetti dinner and vegetarian/gluten free choice, plus a Saturday morning pickup.
