Five Trig Points

The event takes place on Saturday 9 May 2026 at the Castleshaw Centre, Waterworks Road, Delph. The course is a fell/trail route that follows footpaths and trails, including parts of the Pennine Way. The distance is about 18 miles with 3000 ft of ascent. The 2026 route is the same as the previous year and is the reverse of earlier editions, run in an anticlockwise direction. Cost is listed as TBC.

Route, navigation and facilities

The route is not marked. Participants must navigate themselves to each checkpoint in the correct ascending order (1 to 9). The shown route is a recommended line; runners may make their own way provided they stay on public rights of way, paths, tracks or roads. There are three manned checkpoints en route that provide snacks and drinks. Free soup and hot drinks are available at the finish.

Requirements and governance

Full kit is required, including full waterproofs, map and compass, hat and gloves, spare clothing and food. The race is run under UK Athletics rules and is licensed with the Trail Running Association (TRA) and the Fell Runners Association (FRA). A 2025 map and GPX file are provided for reference.
