Event overview
The Marsden Moors and Marsden Moors Marathon is scheduled for 9 May 2026. It is based at Marsden Parochial Hall, adjacent to St Bartholomew’s Church, Marsden (HD7 6DN, grid ref SE046116). The event offers circular routes in and around the Colne Valley area:
- 26 miles (approx 42 km)
- 23 miles (approx 37 km)
- 18 miles (approx 30 km)
The Marsden Moors now incorporates a full Marathon route that follows the same checkpoints as the other courses and adds additional trail sections via Wessenden Reservoir, Hey Brinks, Round Hill and the Colne Valley Circuit before returning along the Huddersfield Narrow Canal towpath.
Practical information
Entry is by SiEntries only. Advanced entry fees listed are £15 for LDWA members and £18 for non-members; on-the-day entry may be available at £25. Entry is limited to 150 participants; a wait list is used when full. Children under 16 are free but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian; U-18s must be LDWA members or walk with parents/guardians. Dogs are allowed but must be kept under constant control and on a lead.
Route descriptions, maps, GPX and tracklogs are available to download; no paper copies will be supplied at the start. Required map sheets are OS Explorer OL21 and part of OL1. Entry includes tea and toast at registration, drinks and snacks at checkpoints, a finish meal and a certificate. Participants are asked to bring their own mug and to carry appropriate clothing and safety items for moorland terrain. Refund and cancellation terms apply.
