Event details
The 16th Marsden Moors, incorporating the Marsden Moors Marathon, is scheduled for Saturday 9 May 2026 in Marsden, near Huddersfield. The start and finish are at Marsden Parochial Hall, adjacent to St Bartholomew’s Church (grid ref SE 046116). Entry is by advanced online registration via SIEntries only. Entry fees listed are £15 for LDWA members and £18 for non-members; on-the-day entry may be available at £25. The event is limited to 150 participants and a wait list will operate when full. U16s may enter free if accompanied by parents. Entry terms include a full refund up to one month before the event; after that no refund. Substitutions are allowed with prior notice. If the organisers cancel the event for Covid or other force majeure, refunds will be issued minus the SIEntries admin fee.
Routes and logistics
There are three circular routes in and around the Colne Valley:
- 26.2 miles
- 23 miles
- 18 miles
The full marathon route uses the same checkpoints as the other routes and includes additional linked sections and paths around reservoirs and valley tracks. Detailed route descriptions, maps, GPX files and tracklogs are available to download. Paper copies of route descriptions or maps will not be supplied; participants should print or download them to devices. OS map sheets for the event are OL21 and OL1. Parking is provided at the railway station overspill car park, free and a short walk from the event HQ, with marshals to direct. Refreshments include tea and toast at registration, drinks and snacks at checkpoints, and a finish meal and certificate. Participants are asked to bring their own mug.
