Event
The Irregulars of the LDWA organise Marsden Moors and Marsden Moors Marathon on 9 May 2026. The event is based at Marsden Parochial Hall, adjacent to St Bartholomew’s Church, Marsden (HD7 6DN, grid ref SE046116). Entrants include LDWA and non-LDWA participants. The event limit is 150 places with a wait list when full.
Routes
There are three circular courses:
- 26.2 miles (full marathon variant)
- 23 miles
- 18 miles
The marathon route is an extended version of the main course and uses the same checkpoints. Route descriptions, maps and GPX/tracklogs are available to download. The recommended Ordnance Survey maps are OL21 and part of OL1. The route passes local features such as Wessenden Reservoir, Wessenden Lodge, Hey Brinks, Round Hill, the B6107 (Meltham Road), the Colne Valley circuit, the A62, Olive Branch restaurant and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal towpath.
Entries, facilities and requirements
Advance entry only via SiEntries. Entry fees are stated for LDWA and non-LDWA members; on-the-day entry may be available at a higher fee. Children under 16 may enter free when accompanied by a parent or guardian; under-18s must be LDWA members or walk with a parent/guardian. Entry includes tea and toast at registration, cold drinks and snacks at checkpoints, a meal at the finish and a certificate. Participants are asked to print or download route materials themselves and to bring a mug. Dogs are allowed but must be under constant control and on a lead. Participants should carry suitable clothing and equipment for moorland terrain and weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
