Marsden Moors and Marathon
The event on Saturday 9 May 2026 offers three circular challenge routes in and around the Colne Valley, all starting and finishing at Marsden Parochial Hall adjacent to St Bartholomew’s Church, Marsden, near Huddersfield (Grid ref SE 046116). Route options are:
- 26.2 miles
- 23 miles
- 18 miles
The extended route now includes a full Marathon distance. The marathon follows the same checkpoints as other routes with an added section that runs from the top of the descent to the footbridge over Blakely Clough, then past a ford to Wessenden Reservoir embankment, Wessenden Lodge up to Hey Brinks, along Deer Hill Conduit, descending via Round Hill to the B6107 Meltham Road, around the Colne Valley Circuit to the A62, then a field path from the Olive Branch restaurant to the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and the tow path back to the start.
Entry is by advanced registration through SIEntries only. Fees are £15 for LDWA members and £18 for non LDWA. Entries on the day may be available at £25. Under 16s are free when accompanied by parents. The event is limited to 150 participants with a wait list when full.
Maps, route descriptions, GPS tracklogs and printable maps are available for download. Participants should park in the Railway Station overspill car park, free and about a five minute walk from the event hall. Entry includes tea and toast at registration, checkpoint drinks and snacks, a finish meal and a certificate. Participants should bring their own mug and be responsible for any dietary or allergy precautions. Refund and substitution policies apply as stated by the organiser.
