Marsden Moors and Marsden Moors Marathon
The Irregulars local group of the Long Distance Walkers Association will run Marsden Moors on Saturday 9 May 2026. The event is based at Marsden Parochial Hall adjacent to St Bartholomew’s Church, Marsden, near Huddersfield (grid ref SE 046116). Route descriptions, maps, GPX and tracklogs are available to download before the event.
Three circular route options are provided:
- 26 miles
- 23 miles
- 18 miles
The event now incorporates a full marathon route as part of the course options. Entrants must register in advance via SIEntries; entry fees are listed for LDWA members and non members, with a higher fee if entries remain available on the day. The field is limited to 150 participants and a waiting list operates when the event is full. Children under 16 may enter free when accompanied by a parent or guardian; under 18s must be LDWA members or walk with a parent or guardian. Dogs are permitted but must be kept on a lead and under constant control.
Entry includes tea and toast at registration, cold drinks and snacks at checkpoints, a meal at the finish and a certificate. Paper copies of route descriptions and maps will not be supplied so participants should download or print required materials in advance. The organisers recommend suitable footwear and clothing and suggest carrying basic navigation and emergency equipment for moorland terrain. Participants are asked to bring their own mug.
