A portion of race proceeds will be donated to JeffCo Shop with a Cop. That program raises funds year-round to provide underprivileged children with a Christmas shopping experience. More than 30 Jefferson County first responder agencies participate in the two-day program. In the prior year, over 550 children received a $150 gift card each to shop at Walmart. The program serves students in grades K–6 from all 11 Jefferson County school districts; school counselors help select participating children. During the event the children are bussed to Walmart, greeted by volunteers, offered cookies and milk, and meet Santa while paired with a first responder.
Awards for the 5K include top three overall finishers and top three male and female finishers in these age groups: 14 and under, 15 to 24, 25 to 34, 35 to 44, 45 to 54, and 55 and over.
Packet pickup is at Fitness NOW Studio, 407 W Main St, on Tuesday, November 24 (3:30pm–7:30pm), Wednesday, November 25 (11am–1pm), and Thursday, November 26 (7am–7:45am). A 5K course map is provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
