First Street Beer Mile : 4th Annual
The event is a beer mile held on First Street in Cleveland, Tennessee, organized by Terra Running Company, Mash & Hops, and Blackhorse Pub and Brewery. The course runs from Mash & Hops to Ocoee Street, turns around, and returns to Church Street. Competitors complete four laps that together total 1 mile.
At the start of each lap, runners must consume a 12 oz can of beer from Blackhorse Pub and Brewery in the designated drinking area in front of Mash & Hops. A runner may not begin a lap until the can is empty. A total of four beers will be consumed during the race. Containers will be available near beer stations for participants who cannot finish all beer during the run. Beer stations will stop serving after a reasonable period to allow runners to complete the race.
Registration information and limits are specified: registration opens May 6 and closes June 30 for the early fee; in-person registration is available until the race reaches its cap of 70 participants. Entry costs $32 through June 30 and $37 from July 1 until race day. The event is restricted to participants aged 21 and older; a form of ID is required. Awards will be given for fastest running times and fastest chugging. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
