About the race
Running with Sasquatch is Ivy Academy’s annual trail race and community fundraiser held on the Ivy Academy campus at 8520 Dayton Pike in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee. The main event is a 5K out-and-back trail that follows the North Chickamauga Creek. The trail is approximately 4 to 5 feet wide and allows two-way traffic. The course may include creek crossings, standing water, fallen trees, and rugged, uneven terrain. The turnaround point is Pride Rock. Ivy Academy staff will be positioned along the trail to guide and supervise participants. Participants are encouraged to bring their own water supply, especially those who plan to walk or hike.
Event options include a Wildflower Walk that starts at the back of the lineup and moves at a relaxed pace to view more than 30 species of wildflowers along the south bank of the creek, a Sleepy Sasquatch entry that provides event swag without racing, and a Run and Ruck combination. Ruck-The-Rock invites ruckers to carry canned goods to Pride Rock and back, weigh their rucksacks, donate the canned goods, and make a monetary donation equal to the rucksack weight. All canned goods and 50 percent of monetary donations support the Soddy Daisy Food Bank.
Proceeds from the event support Ivy Academy athletics and an athletic scholarship fund. A recycled race number drop box and giveaways are part of the event. Ivy Academy is a tuition free public charter school serving grades 6 through 12 and operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
