About the race
The 4th Avenue Firecracker Mile is a community running event held in Canyon, Texas as part of Canyon’s 4th of July Celebration on July 4. The mile takes place along 4th Avenue in downtown Canyon and is presented alongside several community activities. The larger celebration on the same day includes a Lions Club pancake breakfast at the Cole Community Center, a Fair on the Square with over 100 vendors and food trucks and activities for children, an Independence Day parade with the theme "Rooted in Freedom" that proceeds west past the Downtown Square, and fireworks at Paul Lindsey Park. The fair is located around the Downtown Canyon Square.
The fireworks display will be at Paul Lindsey Park and there will be no vendors or live music during the fireworks. Registration for the 4th Avenue Firecracker Mile is managed by the event organizers and registration closes July 1 at 5:00 PM. The parade route begins at the east end of 4th Avenue at the First United Bank Center and continues west past the Downtown Square. Event sponsors and local organizations support the celebration and the Chamber of Commerce provides event information. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
