Finger Lakes Festival of Races : Montour Falls, NY
The Finger Lakes Festival of Races takes place in Montour Falls, New York, along the Catharine Valley Trail. The event offers multiple race distances on a well maintained former rail trail with a slight elevation gain outward and a slight elevation decline returning to the finish. The course runs near Shequaga Falls and the start and finish are a short walk from the parking area on South Genesee Street.
Distances available include:
- 18 mile (in person and virtual)
- Half marathon (in person and virtual)
- 10K (in person and virtual)
- 5K (Friday night and Saturday in person, plus virtual)
Packet pickup is scheduled on the Friday before the main day at a location in Montour Falls and on race day at a small park at 238 West Main Street. Post race activities include a celebration with music, food, drinks, and a health and wellness fair. The event provides participant items such as a long sleeve thermal shirt for longer distances, a custom short sleeve shirt for 5K entrants, a finisher medal, a custom finisher certificate, and post race refreshments. Entrants aged 21 and over receive a free beer at a nearby brewery. Proceeds benefit Friends of the Catharine Valley Trail. The region is noted for fall foliage, wineries, and craft beer locations.
