Filey Lions 10K Beach Race
The Filey Lions 10K Beach Race is an annual event held in Filey, North Yorkshire. Organized by the Filey Lions Club since 2015, the race takes place entirely on the sand. The event supports local charities and community groups, with profits from the entry fees directed toward these causes.
The course is a 10 km multi-terrain route with a flat profile. The race follows a single-lap format that begins and finishes near the Filey Sailing Club. From the start line, participants run south along the beach on a marshalled path. At the halfway point, there is a water station where runners turn to head back toward the finish arch.
Race headquarters are located at the Filey Sailing Club, which serves as the hub for registration. The event provides several amenities for participants, including:
- Water stations
- Distance markers
- Toilets
- Changing facilities
- Showers
- Baggage store
The race has a strict entry limit of 250 participants and is not suitable for wheelchairs. Registration must be completed in advance as there is no option for entry on the day of the event. Affiliated and unaffiliated entry options are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
