Fifth Street Runspringa Series
The Fifth Street Runspringa Series is a multi-week athletic event held at Wayne A. Grube Memorial Park in Northampton, Pennsylvania. Running from late March through April, the series takes place on an off-road course that combines grass, dirt, and park trails into a cross-country layout. The course direction alternates each week to provide variety for returning participants.
Participants can choose from three main event categories:
- RUN (two laps of the course)
- CYCLOCROSS (five laps of the course on any style of bike)
- Double Cross (participation in both the run and the cycle events)
The event is designed with open registration and no specific fitness requirements. Weekly on-site registration is available, and there are reduced rates for junior participants up to age 16. Those who register for the full season pass receive a commemorative hat.
The series uses a specific scoring system where everyone earns points each week. In keeping with event tradition, the overall winner is the individual who finishes in fifth place in the standings at the conclusion of the final race. Separate scoring and podiums are maintained for Overall and Women's categories. Double points are awarded if there is inclement weather at the start. After the final event on April 30, an awards ceremony and after-party featuring park grills and beverages are held at the site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
